Digital Photograph Enhancement

Digital photography is a quite recent development that has converted the large masses into photographers. It is by far the easiest way to take a snapshot and allows the photographer to enhance its overall features later on. Because digital cameras use rewritable digital memory instead of film, you can have the convenience of taking good shots and eliminating the bad ones. It offers the easiest way of capturing good images and converting them to interesting pieces of art.

Indeed, even digital photography has come a long way ever since the first digital cameras and computers entered the consumer market. The development of budget digital cameras has induced tremendous change in the world of photography, as everyone with a digital camera can take a photograph, upload it to their desktop computer and then share it with friends.

The birth of mass photography has also brought a niche for online photography related services. There are several companies that cater the consumers’ needs of this sort. Usually, they offer services such as digital image restoration, photo retouching, and photo editing or digital enhancement. These services bring satisfaction to photo hobbyists, as they are able to develop many “failed” photos into acceptable form.

Even though digital cameras allow immediate feedback on the shot, not all mistakes are easily noted on a small camera screen. Therefore many photographs that look quite right at first will actually need some attention before they can be used on the high resolution needed on for example printing them out.

Enter Digital Enhancement

Digital photo enhancement is the answer to many of the image quality problems mentioned above. It is the way to improve your shot and make it look more attractive, or the way to recover a photo from a lesser failure. With digital enhancement, you can easily increase the attractiveness of images by simply adjusting the brightness, contrast and sharpness of the image. You are also given the chance to enhance the color balance of the picture. The high resolution of modern digital cameras also allows for digital resizing and cropping later on.

There are many innovative ways to improve a digital photograph using these computer aided techniques. Anyone who is into digital photography can take advantage of the services that offered online, but most enthusiasts want to learn the way to do it themselves. Online photography courses can help.

The professional Adobe Photoshop is a good tool that can also be used by hobbyists. The steep price can push users away from professional tools, but fortunately Photoshop Elements from Adobe or the Paint Shop Pro series from Corel have a cheaper price tag attached. There are also free alternatives available, such a GIMP, the GNU Image Manipulation Program.

The Future of Digital Photography

With the onset of the 21st century, photos can be manipulated and altered in many ways using digital imaging and computer aided techniques. Digital photography started a significant change in photographic technology and changed the nature of photography significantly.

Nowadays, the number of photos you can take is much higher, so you can afford to make mistakes. Also, a photograph can often be remedied on the personal computer, even if it was spoiled by too much lighting. While that has made photography more beginner friendly, it is still far from an easy hobby.

Photography has been present for more than a hundred years and yet new innovations are taking place even this day. Looking at it, one has to surmise that photography will develop again in the future. It’s never too late to get into photography and even now it’s too early to stop learning more about it.

Cameras have certainly come a long way since the early camera obscura. Today the digital point and shoot cameras used by many fit easily in one hand and are fully automated. You even need none of the film rolls present in cameras from a couple of decades past, but can store hundreds of high quality photographs on a memory card less than a square inch in size.

If this is the state of photography today, what may the future hold for us? Technologies such as high dynamic range (HDR) imaging and specular reflection have already been developed. They will probably enter the consumer market within the next few years. More long term plans on photographic technology include various forms of 3D modeling.

Regardless of which one of these technologies you will have in your digital camera a few years from now, one thing is certain: your camera will still not take the pictures without your guidance. Choosing the target, the angle of view and cropping the photograph will still be left for you to take care of and excel in.

If you are into photography, you probably want to get better at it. That requires practice - a lot of it. However, it is often helpful to be taught about the theory, too. That’s why online photography courses have become a popular method both for new photographers to get used to the art and for more experienced photographers to hone their skills.

And now some more rumors and descriptions of the third novel of Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini- Brisingr (Eragon Book 3). The novel is scheduled for September 2008. These are two different versions of the description of the novel on Amazon: one from Amazon.com and the other from Amazon.co.uk.

They do offer some insight into the plot possibilities of Brisingr, instead of just detailing the starting position as told in Eragon and Eldest. If you don’t want to be spoiled anything, please stop reading now. Otherwise, feel free to continue by clicking the link below:

The Art of Used Motors

Not really considered an art by most people buying and selling used cars can be put down to a fine art, at least in my eyes it can. I have been buying used alfa romeo tspark’s for years - buying them cheap in online auctions etc then selling them on for a good solid profit. This works and is easily replicated, but when I moved onto french cars I was disappointed to see that despite my best efforts buying and selling used citroens for sale was a lot, lot more difficult. Maybe its because they start off life as lesser value cars, or maybe its just the french designs age a lot more than the stylish italian alfa romeos…I am really unsure but its a shame…I will stick to used alfa romeos!

Tractor Man Comes To Town

tractors

Our Rural community yesterday experienced a whole new type of show, used tractor man or just tractor for short came to show us his wild tractor robots. These things are properly humanised robots that stand 30 ft tall and can walk like any human, yet transform back into a tractor within less than 15 seconds - seriously just like the transformers movie - these tractors rule! one of the tractors was red and the other blue, the blue tractor used its smaller wheels as equivelent hands and the exhaust pipe as its head - very novel! If you ever see a small poster with a tractor robot standing on it then I would recommend you go and see him, What amazes me is there is nothing about it on the internet anywhere - you think a real life transformer 30ft tall that looks like a normal tractor most of the time would get some sort of attention! Seriously - Used Tractor Robot man rules!

Alaska Cruising 2006-A Quick Overview, With Links to All the Cruiselines

Filed under: House Of Media @ 12:33 pm

Thinking about an Alaska cruise this summer? You’ve got tons of options along the
sea routes of “the Great Land” in 2006. And few, if any, passengers who make the
trip will return home disappointed in this region of towering mountains, lush
forests, endless acres of untrammeled wilderness, whales in the water and brown
(grizzly) bears on shore. Equally exciting: Alaska Native cultures still vibrant and
living, and “Sourdough” goldrush history still reflected in many structures and sites
connected to the Klondike stampede to the Yukon.

16 Cruiselines, 47 Vessels

Among voyaging choices: No fewer than 16 cruiselines will dispatch a total of 47
big and little vessels on literally hundreds of sailings this spring, summer, and fall.
And that doesn’t include Alaska’s 11 wide-ranging state-owned passenger and
vehicle ferries, most with staterooms and food service. You can board a couple of
these ships as far south as Bellingham, Washington.

Some of the major vessels in the cruiseliner fleet — floating grand resorts actually,
with swimming pools, fitness centers, Vegas-style shows, casinos, movie theaters,
and lounges — will accommodate more than 2,000 passengers per sailing. In
contrast, some of the smallest ships will pamper only a dozen or so.

Cruiseship ports of departure include Seattle, San Francisco, Vancouver, and Prince
Rupert, plus a number Alaska coastal communities - among them Ketchikan,
Petersburg, Sitka, Juneau, Cordova, Whittier, and Seward.

Cruise lengths: 3 Nights to 24

Cruise lengths vary. You can book a short cruise of three nights/four days in Prince
William Sound or you can sign up for a traditional seven-night/eight-day roundtrip
“Inside Passage” voyage from Seattle or Vancouver to Southeast Alaska and return
(longer from San Francisco). Or you can book a seven-night/eight-day one-way
“Gulf and Glaciers” cruise between Vancouver and Seward or Whittier. If you have the
time (and budget) you may opt for an “expedition” sailing. Longest is 24 nights/25
days and includes the Bering Sea and even Russian ports and cruising areas.

Glaciers

Of course, an Alaska cruise would hardly be an Alaska cruise without a day or more
at major glacier viewing sites, among them: Glacier Bay National Park north of
Juneau; Hubbard Glacier, which “flows” off Wrangell-St.Elias National Park into
Disenchantment Bay and Russell Fjord north of Yakutat; twin Sawyer glaciers within
the U.S. Forest Service’s Tracy Arm-Ford’s Terror Wilderness Area between Juneau
and Petersburg; and Southcentral Alaska’s Prince William Sound with College Fjord
and other glacier-rich sites.

Cruisetours

If you want more than sea travel you can book the increasingly popular option of a
“cruisetour.” That is, before or after your cruise you can experience the likes of a
tour to Denali National Park, Fairbanks, Prudhoe Bay (on the shores of the Arctic
Ocean), Canada’s Yukon Territory, or other popular land destinations.

For cruiseline-by-cruiseline itineraries and options, following are the names, phone

Do-Follow for More Reader Activity

Filed under: House Of Media, Content Resources, Blogroll @ 6:23 pm

The do-follow, or I-follow, movement has caused a resurge of blogs without the ‘nofollow’ link attribute applied to all comments. Since being introduced in 2005 by Google, the nofollow attribute is now added by default to any reader submitted links on many popular blog platforms. Removing the attribute is advocated by many bloggers.

Nofollow

Google introduced the nofollow attribute in 2005 to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results, and reducing spam in general. It was designed by Matt Cutts and Jason Shellen from Blogger.com webspam team. Its effect was described to remove the PageRank value of the link.

Different search engines treat links with nofollow differently. Google does not count the link as a vote, or index the target page if previously not indexed. Officially Google does not even make a note of the existence of the target page. Yahoo! follows the link, and may index the page, but the link won’t give more value to the target. Other search engines may, or may not care about the attribute at all.

Some links have been tagged nofollow in Wikimedia software since the introduction in 2005, but site wide adding of nofollow to all external links in the English language Wikipedia happened only in January 2007. Blogger included the attribute in comments and backlinks from early on. It was included by default in Wordpress comments from version 1.5 forward.

Do-Follow

Lately, especially after the introduction of nofollow to Wikipedia, nofollow has begun to be seen also as a negative thing. On blogs, commenting on other blogs has always been a way to market one’s own blog, and after the introduction of nofollow, this has been less effective. Some bloggers claim that they now see a higher amount of spam comments, allegedly because to get the same effect spammers need to spam more.

Before nofollow those who comment regularly on a blog would also get many backlinks for free. Now that most blogs are nofollow, there is less reason to become a regular, or to comment at all. The do-follow movement consists of bloggers, who wish to reward, and encourage commenting by giving back comments their backlink value.

How to Join

On Wordpress blogs there are many plugins for removing the attribute. Some plugins offer extra features, like nofollow for first time comments, or nofollow for old comments. The customizable nature of Wordpress templates, and plugins has brought many solutions to this problem. The most popular of the plugins can be found with a Google search for ‘do-follow Wordpress’.

If you have a Blogger blog, making it do-follow is as easy as removing each occurrence of “rel=’nofollow’” in the template. The template can be modified from ‘Blogger Dashboard’, under ‘Template’ - ‘Edit HTML’. The ‘Expand Widget Templates’ checkbox has to be checked to see the posts section of the code.

After you have removed nofollow from your blog comments, remember to tell it to your readers. When they know they are rewarded for their commenting, they are more likely to share their thoughts. They might even bookmark your blog, and return again. All this simply because you can make them fell their opinions are valued.
