Can Liposuction Cure Cellulite

Cellulite is a condition in which one develops a a layer of fatty tissue below the skin. It usually affects women. Areas of the body which are most likely to be affected by cellulite are thighs, legs, and buttocks. Cellulite often results in the skin developing masses of bumpy skin and stretching of the skin.

For people who have cellulite, it may be a daunting task to try to reduce it. There are many products on the market that promise to reduce the visibility of cellulite. But they often do not perform as promised. These products include pills and creams. Statistics suggest thatyearly spend on cellulite cure products is in millions of dollars. Many people actually consider having liposuction to reduce the visible effects of cellulite.

If you have cellulite and are considering liposuction to cure the cellulite, it is important for you to understand that it does not always succeed in curing the problem. There have been reported cases in which the cellulite actually developed more severely after receiving liposuction. It is advisable to weigh all options and also consult your doctor before deciding to pursue liposuction. Your doctor will probably inform you of other options that you have in dealing with the cellulite issue that you have.

There is a procedure that is gaining in popularity when it comes to reducing the visible signs of liposuction. This procedure is referred to as Endermologie. Its strength is that it is cosmetically more correct. Downside is that it may give only temporary relief. It does however make the skin smoother so that cellulite is not very visible.

When it comes to deciding the right method for curing cellulite, it is important that you carefully consider each of your options. You should consider the overall risks that are associated with each method of treatment for your cellulite. Cost also needs to be looked into and if your health insurance will cover such a procedure. Liposuction should be used as a last resort in most situations.

In order to prevent more cellulite from forming and to tone the cellulite that has already formed, you should be sure to get plenty of regular exercise. Effects of exercise will, in turn tone up that fatty tissue that causes cellulite. You must make it a point have a huge water intake. This has been found to reduce the effects of cellulite by purifying the body.

Curing Erectile Dysfunction The Herbal Way

Filed under: Gender Issues + More @ 5:38 pm

Ever since Viagra came into market, it has had a great amount of success, both in terms of satisfaction and treatment among the patients using the magic drug. People needing a good treatment against the dreaded disease, found Viagra very effective and they jumped into embracing the drug without looking into the pros and cons of the drug. They ignored the possible side effects of Viagra just because they needed something that could have given them a quick and easy way to improve and enhance their sexual life. With the change in time, the acceptance level of the drug has decreased, citing the “post-consumption” consequences of the drug.

Researches and studies done on the subject reveal that the drug has certain side effects and is a potential carrier of some major diseases like heart disease, diabetes. To combat the problem, Ayurvedic medicine has found a good and effective alternative to Viagra. People in some Asian countries - particularly in India and China - have resorted to the “Ayurvedic” option of Viagra. The drug is believed to have worked well in different cases of Erectile Dysfunction or Impotence. It is made from a common weed that is available in the woods of Europe. The herb, though ignored by the “medicine cabinet”, has shown good results in influencing libido, quality and quantity of sperm.

Modern scientists working on the old aged compound have found many benefits of the herb. They have reported that this herbal supplement is rich in biological components and can prevent the formation of stones in Kidneys and Gall Bladder. The herbal supplement also provides some very useful nutritional contents like calcium, phosphorous, iron and protein along with a powerful aphrodisiac effect. The herbal supplement has a good reputation in Europe, being seen by people as a good alternative in curing health problems including Erectile Dysfunction.

Tribulus terrestris L., from which Trilovin 250 is made, found its roots in India. The physicians discovered the aphrodisiac properties and prescribed the use of the herb in treatments of Sexual Dysfunction. Recent research in Europe has confirmed the aphrodisiac properties of the herbal supplement and also found some very good benefits out of the tiny plant.

Despite the success of herbal supplements in curing Erectile Dysfunction, there are still concerns over the acceptance of a herbal treatment in some parts of the world. It has been accepted though in certain parts of Asia and Europe but to have a full and widespread impact on the ED drug market, the herbal treatment will have to wait a long time before results starts pouring in. Viagra still holds the market share in Erectile Dysfunction treatment and is expected to continue its success in the time to come.

Chemical Peel Facts - Is It Right For You

Filed under: Gender Issues + More @ 2:33 pm

Nowadays, there are a lot of options available towards getting
that youthful glow for your skin. From the most complicated of
plastic surgeries, to a simple face lift or chemical peel -
there are about a hundred options that one can choose from to
remove dead skin cells and get rid of that old, wrinkled look to
give your spirits a lift and your morale a boost.

1. Skin Damage

When we go out and get exposed to sunlight, the outer layer of
our skin gets damaged and dead skin cells remain embedded on our
skin, resulting from the dirt that gets stuck to the pores.
Thus, as we grow old, the skin looks more dull and lifeless.
When you add the acne scars, freckles and other facial
blemishes, you really would like to have an option to restore
that youthful glow that only movie stars seem to exude on
screen, no matter how old or young they are.

2. What Is A Chemical Peel?

If you would not like to go for the surgical and more
complicated procedures such as face lift and plastic surgery,
chemical peel is definitely an option for you. There are three
basic types of chemical peel that you can choose from, depending
your individual need and skin type. Basically, a chemical peel
is a procedure wherein the dead skin cells and the damaged outer
layers of the skin are removed. There is that chemical word in
the term because a chemical solution is used to smoothen or even
out the texture of the skin. Eventually, the chemical applied
causes the skin to peel off, hence the term chemical peel. This
is typically done on the face, neck or hands. The procedure also
enhances your overall look by removing the damaged outer skin
layers. This is applicable and recommended for people with
uneven skin tones, for people with wrinkles and facial scars
from pimple/acne, and for people who just need to improve their
skin texture.

3. Mild Peel

This procedure removes the superficial skin layer. This is the
most skin-friendly type of peel and may be performed on all skin
types. It is used to treat simple acne and pimple scars and
uneven skin pigmentation. The chemical peel involves a dilute
acid solution, which normally stays on the skin for a few
minutes. After the chemical has been applied, the skin is
neutralized with water, then the solution is wiped off. This
type of peeling procedure produces a light peel, and will result
to a smoother and brighter-looking skin and improved skin
texture.

4. Medium Peel

This procedure goes a little beyond the superficial layer of the
skin. After the treatment, the person undergoing the procedure
will experience a sun-burned look and the skin might look
chafed. The chemical solution stays longer on the skin, as
compared to mild peels. This is applicable for people with more
sun-damaged skin types, and can treat wrinkles as well as uneven
skin pigmentation.

5. Deep Peel (RARELY USED)

As compared to the mild and medium-depth peel, the chemical used
for this type of peeling goes through several skin layers. This
can treat more pronounced skin pigmentations and wrinkles, as
well as pre-cancerous growths. Moreover, this has more medical
complications and considerations so it is better to consult a
medical professional before undergoing a deep chemical peel. The
procedure will definitely take a longer time, about more than an
hour, for the chemical applied on the affected skin to take
effect. However, the results are more glaring than the first two
types.

After the treatment, whether you opt to go for a mild,
medium-depth or deep peel, the person who underwent the
procedure will experience redness of the skin. This will be
followed by scaling, then peeling. The number of days that the
skin will peel depends on the strength of the treatment. It is
also important to avoid sun exposure after undergoing the
chemical peel procedure. Finally, it is always good to consult a
medical professional before undergoing any procedure, to be on
the safe side. It is better to know every detail about the
treatment that you would like to undergo, so that you would know
how your skin would be treated and what to expect right after
the treatment.

Networking Tips for Moms At Home

Filed under: Gender Issues + More @ 11:38 pm

Plenty of moms today stay at home. After a year of battling the
decision to quit my job, I finally “put my foot down”, as they
say, and returned home to raise my daughter. It wasn’t the
easiest decision, but, let me tell you, it sure wasn’t the
toughest! I enjoy every minute of being home to raise my child.
Furthermore, being home has done wonders for my family as a
unit, and drawn us closer together. When I was working my full
time job I barely had time to prepare a decent meal. But today?
I’m a health nut, and so is the whole family (ha)!

But now, there’s another dilemma.

Being a stay at home mom has not affected my personality, of
course, so I still have a lot of creative energy pent up inside!
I thought to myself one day, “what better way to use this energy
than to work towards a goalperhaps start a business?” Not only
would it bring in a nice supplementary income for my family, but
having a business (or craft or hobby) would enhance my creative
skills and strengthen my business expertise. I call it the
project of my lifetime.

The first thing I did was a little soul searching to seek God’s
direction for the type of business or project He would have me
to embark on. I realized right away that although my personality
was suited for several types of business ventures (selling
crafts, designing websites, or providing secretarial services),
I would soon either have to narrow it down to one choice, or
start a business that combined all or most of my skills and
interests. For me, choosing the right business was the hardest
part. Once I settled on freelance web design and writing, it
soon became my ultimate goal to find out as much as possible
about these particular industries. In my thought, education and
information is what separates the amateurs from the
professionals. My goal was to be a professional in my field.
This is where networking is highly important.

If you’re like me, the internet is probably one of the very best
tools you can use for research. Not only is it a few feet away
from me as I embark on my daily chores, but I keep my computer
on at all times. Thankfully, we are using a broadband connection
and can stay online 24/7 without having to worry about tying up
the phone line. This, I should stress, is very important for
moms who have businesses that require them to be online quite
often, but who will need access to the phone as well. Once
online, I begin my networking research by going to a search
engine. My favorite one is Google (www.google.com) just because
of its enormous searching capabilities. As a former library
assistant, I can attest that Google is highly recommended in the
academic and librarianship fields. I search for information in
my fields using as many search terms and combination of terms as
possible. With each result that I feel is important to me, I
visit its webpage and bookmark it for future reference. Once
I’ve bookmarked a bunch of pages, I go through each of these
websites and study them, taking notes on what I feel is
important to me in my field. I promise, you will find contacts
this way, and it will be so much easier to network once you have
a list of people whose companies and organizations you have
researched online. In addition to an internet search, I feel
that it is also important to find any books or other
publications that are related to your industry. Study them and
find out more about the authors. Find out if they have websites
and how to reach them. Now that you have a compiled list of
contact people, it’s time to work the list! Before contacting
these people individually (they are probably very busy), see if
they offer newsletters, or other mailbits. You are looking for
information on how they got where they are today. Remember, you
are the amateur. They are the professionals. So, any information
you receive from this contact list regarding their biographies
and information on the field itself is important enough for your
notes. Take plenty of notes, and keep them in a file folder.
Every time you find a new piece of information on your subject
matter, drop it in your file folder. And finally, if you
absolutely need to contact your list of professionals for more
information, I would recommend sending an email.

But don’t forget about networking with fellow amateurs! You can
make some of your best friends and closest contacts online by
joining mail lists such as Yahoo groups or MSN groups. These
groups along with technologies such as Instant Messenger make it
easier for you to find people with similar personal and
professional interests and literally network with them on a
regular basis. You will find out so much about your industry and
probably learn more from each other regarding your profession
than in any other way.

Last but not least, be sure to network with the most important
contact of all: your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Remember that
it is He who gave you the passion and the calling, and it is He
who will be with you each step of the way on your new journey.

Happy networking!

Menopause: The Emotional & Psychological Impact

Filed under: Gender Issues + More @ 2:52 pm

Menopause, which literally means the cessation of menses, represents the stage in a woman’s life when her reproductive capacity has been brought to an end. There are many hormonal changes that lead to the cessation of menses. The main cause is the drop in oestrogen.

Hormonal Changes

It has been traditionally assumed that depression and other psychological problems are a direct cause of menopause. However, recent studies have revealed that this is not necessarily true. Researchers have discovered a rise in the incidents of depression in women ranging form 35 to 43 years old, which is a lot before menopause. In most cases, menopause occurs between 49 and 51, although some women may experience it before 40.

Most hormonal changes occur during the few years before menopause, which are referred to as the perimenopausal stage. These changes may increase the production of serotonin, a chemical in the brain connected to depression. This is why mood swings are not uncommon during this period. Another hormonal change during the perimenopausal stage is the decrease in the oestrogen level.

Psychological & Emotional Impact

Oestrogen, which is linked to depression, explains why there are higher depression rates in women than in men. However, as the oestrogen level decreases before menopause, the risk of depression should also decrease.

The increased depression rate encountered during menopause suggests that it is not actually the hormonal changes, but the psychological impact associated with this stage that causes the problems. For most women, the changes in status and fertility associated with menopause affect a wide range of other aspects, such as the way they view themselves and their sexuality.

Menopause is also associated with some changes in body tissues. Breast tissues become less firm, while the genital organs become smaller. Between 50% and 75% of women experiencing menopause have hot flushes, which consist of brief body temperature rises accompanied by sweating and skin flushing. These hot flushes can cause not only physical discomfort, but also occasional social discomfort and sleeping disorders.

Attitude

While everyone agrees that dealing with all the physical changes that occur during menopause is not easy, most psychologists feel that depression during this stage is more a matter of attitude. The changes associated with menopause can be viewed from a different angle. During this stage, women can explore their creativity and social potential and expand their contribution to society. The fact that they are now freed from the fear of pregnancy gives them the opportunity to rejuvenate their sex life. Unfortunately, most women feel that the end of their fertility is the end of their sexuality too.

Psychologists state that women who have a positive attitude on the changes that happen in their body look healthier and are likely to have an increased interest in sex. In contrast, those who believe in the myth that menopause is the end of their womanhood, the start to lose their attractiveness and vitality and look older. Other studies have proved that negative attitudes on menopause also increase the unpleasant symptoms associated with it, such as hot flashes, fatigue, night sweats, sleeping disorders and aches.

Strategies For Women In Overcoming Their Fearful Thoughts

Filed under: Gender Issues + More @ 3:40 pm

Women can have a difficult time in managing their negative
thoughts. It can be tough to have to experience fearful thoughts
that are intrusive, scary, and difficult to manage. As a result,
here is a short list of techniques that women can use to help
manage their negative and fearful thoughts.

>From my interviews with various psychologists, I was told that a
person should visualize a red stop sign in their mind when they
encounter a fear provoking thought. When the negative thought
comes, a person should think of a red stop sign which serves as
a reminder to stop focusing on that thought and to think of
something else. A person can then try to think of something
positive to replace the negative thought.

A person must not dwell or focus on the fear provoking thought
when it comes. The more a person tries to reason out the thought
or focus on the fear behind the thought, the stronger the
thought becomes. The next time you encounter an obsessive
thought, get into the practice of not dwelling on it.

A person should keep a small notebook of positive statements
that makes them feel good. Whenever they come across a positive
and uplifting verse that makes them feel good, write it down in
a small notebook. A person can then carry this notebook around
in their pocket and whenever they feel anxious, they can read
their notebook.

Sometimes, a person may encounter a lot of scary thoughts coming
at them all at once. Instead of getting upset, remember that
these thoughts are exaggerated and are not based on reality.
>From my interviews with various professionals, I’ve learned that
usually it is the fear behind the thoughts that gets us worked
up. Ignore the fear behind these obsessive thoughts, regardless
how the strong the fear may be. If you ignore the fear behind
these thoughts, then the thoughts become easier to manage.

Another thing to remember is that no one can predict the future
with 100 Percent certainty. Even if your fearful thoughts tell
you otherwise, the fact is that there are circumstances and
factors in every situation that can not be anticipated. We may
be ninety-nine percent in predicting the future but all it takes
is for that one percent to make the biggest difference.

Although I am a Layman and not a professional, I have
interviewed many counselors and I learned that there are many
ways to deal with these kinds of thoughts.

Hormones: Can They Help?

Filed under: Gender Issues + More @ 2:14 am

In menopause, a woman’s ovaries stop producing the “female” hormones estrogen and progesterone. Levels of the “male” hormone testosterone fall more gradually, so that a woman in her 40s has only about half the testosterone she had in her 20s. These hormonal shifts can add up to a loss of sexual desire, or vaginal dryness that makes sexual intercourse an ordeal. Some women get relief from hormone creams, pills, or other preparations, including the following:

Bioidentical hormones

What they are: Plant-derived hormones with the same molecular structure as the hormones secreted by the body.

What they do: Ease vaginal dryness and boost libido (and relieve other menopausal symptoms).

Prescription required? Yes.

Risks: Long-term use of bioidentical hormones has not been well researched.

Estrogen

What they are: Vaginal creams (Estrace Cream, Premarin Cream), vaginal rings (Estring, Femring), and vaginal tablets (Vagifem) containing estrogen.

What they do: Makes sex more comfortable by building estrogen levels in the vagina to thicken vaginal tissue and increase natural moisture.
Prescription required? Yes

Risks: Estrogen may affect breast and uterine health. However, with these preparations, little estrogen should be absorbed into the bloodstream, especially as treatment progresses and vaginal tissue thickens.

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT)

What they are: In women who haven’t had a hysterectomy, estrogen plus progestin in pill form. In women who have had a hysterectomy, estrogen alone in pill form.

What they do: Relieve hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms, including vaginal dryness.

Prescription required? Yes

Risks: The Women’s Health Initiative, a large study funded by the U.S. government, found that long-term use of HRT increased the risk for stroke and other serious illnesses. For complete study results, go to: www.nhlbi.nih.gov/whi/. Most doctors recommend that women who use HRT take the lowest dose for the shortest period of time.

Testosterone

What they are: Creams and gels compounded by a pharmacist; the FDA recently determined that an experimental patch (Intrinsa) made by Procter & Gamble needed further study.

What they do: Increase sexual desire. Prescription required? Yes Risks: Can cause a woman’s voice to deepen and facial hair to grow.

BOTTOM LINE: If you’re considering using hormones, talk to your doctor about the benefits and risks for someone with your health profile.

Versace - Well Recognized For Quality Fashions!

Filed under: Gender Issues + More @ 12:32 am

Gianni Versace was born in 1946 in Reggio, Calabria, in
Southern Italy. Versace received his love of fashion and first
lessons on dress-making from his mother. Initially Versace
trained as an architect, but soon he followed his mother into
the fashion business. Versace worked for a number of top Italian
fashion houses, but in 1978 with the help of his brother Santo
he launched his own label. Versace was a great fashion pioneer
who combined the worlds of high style and pop culture. He was a
charismatic and accomplished designer of clothing and theater
costumes. Versace appreciated a range of historic attire which
he incorporated into his designs and he was greatly influenced
by Andy Warhol and modern abstract art.

Wowzer! Best describes the fashions designed by Gianni Versace.
He was notorious for designing garments that would shock and
startle our senses. Versace saw his designing as an art form. He
initiated clothing that was visually excessive and provocative-
fashions that confronted accepted codes of taste, beauty and
sexuality. Fashion became entertainment, to be watched and
admired - not simply worn. For Versace nothing was too
extravagant too crazy or too risque. Yet no matter how
extravagant or provocative Versace’s clothes were always
strikingly well designed garments designed to flatter the body.

Versace was the designer of choice for many of the rich and
famous: pop stars such as Elton John, and Madonna; film stars
such as Will Smith, and Elizabeth Hurley and even royalty -
Princess Diana. The wealthy were drawn to his clothes like
magnets, and that enhanced his reputation. However, Vercasse did
not design simply for the wealthy his clothes were very much
available to the average person. In 1985 he launched the Istante
label in 1985; and after years as Gianni’s muse, his sister
Donatella became his co-designer and launched the Versace
diffusion range, Versus, in 1989. These labels featured clothes
within the budgets of many consumers; not only were they priced
lower than the custom-made clothes, but they were also aimed at
younger markets. In 1988 Versace received the Cutty Sark Award
as “the most innovative and creative designer in the world”; and
in 1993 the Council of Fashion Designers of America awarded him
the American fashion Oscar. On July 15, 1997 Versace was shot to
death outside his South Beach home in Miami, Florida by a crazed
gunman name Andrew Cunanan. Since his untimely death in 1997 the
Versace fashion house continues to grow under the creative
leadership of his sister Donatella and the business acumen of
his brother Santo. Donatella’s daughter Allegra inherited 50% of
the company last summer when she turned 18. However, Donatella
is still very much in charge. The days of the wet-look, shocking
pink PVC and as much flash and flesh as a catwalk can take are
long gone. The new Versace is growing up. “I’m not blind,” says
Donatella. “I know that most women don’t look like models. We
had to start addressing other parts of a woman’s life. The
fashion business is a very different place from when Gianni
started the label.” Donatella’s mind is very much on the
continued success of Versace. With Donatella at the helm, and
Santo and Allegra at her side, they continue to grow and develop
the Versace Product Lines with fabulous designs unveiled for the
