Divers - Meet Your New Best Friend

Filed under: Fitness Gear, Adventure @ 11:34 pm

Dive computers perform all of the calculations automatically with respect to decompression status. During a dive, the computer constantly tracks depth, dive time and no decompression time remaining. Dive Computers are great tools and you have a great selection to choose from. In the last few yeasr the watch models have really taken off and there is some good computers out there. Dive computers allow divers to perform complex dives with little planning. This may lead divers to exceed their competence and experience by relying too much on the computer rather than proper planning, discipline and monitoring.

Dive computers can provide useful measurements and monitor critical factors for divers making such dives possible. Dive computers are an alternative to decompression tables, but with an added edge. What a dive computer does is to continuously calculate the actual depth and time profile of the diver as they are diving.

Scuba computers, or dive computers, are compact digital devices which perform the task of nitrogen management without the need for a watch or dive tables. Combining a timer with a depth gauge, and intelligent software which computes absorption of gases, dive computers are popular with experienced recreational divers.

SUUNTO dive computers are intended for recreational use only. The demands of commercial or professional diving often expose the diver to depths and prolonged exposures including multi-day exposures that tend to increase the risk of decompression sickness. Suunto is the only manufacturer to display these two parameters determining the decompression stop range. Suunto considers these watches sophisticated dive computers, and only sells them through dive shops and related retail outlets.

Galileo by UWATEC dive computer is as revolutionary for diving as Galileo Galilei’s discoveries were for XVIIth century science. And science is the essence of Galileo. Gauge mode can be used either for freediving or technical diving. With freediving, the sampling rate for the log book can be set to one second intervals.

lorries vs people carriers

Filed under: The Art Of Figting, Adventure, Activist @ 9:01 am

Call me bitter or call me old but I can’t stand motorway driving when its between lorries and people carriers. Maybe its my eigenvalues or my lack of sympathy for transport drivers - I can’t stand being stuck behind a large ugly vehicle, whether its on the motorway or even local dual carriage way. The toyota lucida is the most ugly of them all - frequently driven by people with no taste or desire to fix the world. Damn them!

Choosing a Suitable Cruise Line

Filed under: Travel Stuff, Helpful Information, Adventure @ 4:07 am

Taking a cruise is a wonderful way to have an all-inclusive vacation. If you are planning your cruise, there are a few things that you want to consider before making a choice.

1. Occasion

Is this a special occasion, such as a honeymoon or an anniversary, or just a vacation? If this is a romantic getaway, your preference should be for a cruise that is more suited to adults rather than children.

2. Group

Is it an all adults group? If children are joining in the revelry you should ensure that the cruise ship of your choice provides activities for children so that they will have a good time too. You will also want to look into childcare facilities.

3. Interests

What kinds of things do you like to do? Some people like to shop, while some others like swimming or watch shows. Decide accordingly when selecting the cruise liner.

4. Destination

Where would you like to go? Do you have some place tropical in mind, or would you like to go to Alaska and go whale watching? Do you want to spend time scuba diving, snorkeling and windsurfing? Or do you want to take a dog sled ride?

5. Talk to friends and family

Talk to all those among your acquaintances who have gone on cruises and learn about their experiences with the cruise ship of their choice. This is one of the best ways to find out what their level of service.

6. Browse the Internet

Another good way to compare different cruise ships is to go on the world wide web and read reviews. Be careful not to make a judgment on the basis of one bad comment but read all of the comments to see if the negative experience was isolated.

7. Talk to travel agents

When you have a couple of cruise ships that you think you might want to choose from, go and talk to a travel agent. But this should be your last step, because travel agents more often give biased opinions.

It is always a good idea to do some research before you choose a cruise ship. Because, you nearly already know what you are getting into, and will enjoy a vacation which is free of tensions.

Another Day another idea

My wife is infuriating!!! she has been changing her mind all week - choosing a holiday is never easy but she honestly cant make her mind up - I gave her the money and told her to book us a decent villa on the algarve - it cant be that difficult can it?

She can’t decide between this villa near Carvoeiro and this other place just down the road. One has a fantastic indoor and outdoor swimming pool, fantastic views but the other has an extra two bedrooms, a better kitchen and is slightly nearer the town - I told her to just go with which ever she thinks is best for her and our family - but she honestly cant choose - I can’t understand it - women seem to be so indecisive!!!

Station Wagon

Filed under: Info Planet, Credit + Ratings, Adventure @ 11:23 am

Lacetti Station Wagon - Daewoo Style. With most car building corporations theres the occasional gem. The car of the year, the car that really knocks the critics socks off. The Daewoo Lacetti Station wagon was never supposed to be that car, it wasn’t built with a Mercedes AMG engine that kills small animals, it was built to be a daewoo estate car, nothing more nothing less. Simply put it pretty much achieves it’s goals - it is an estate car, things generally do fit in the back, although nothing of titanic proportions. Secondly it is fairly cheap, a new daewoo lacetti station wagon costing somewhere in the region of 13000 GBP, a figure that doesn’t make your jaw hit the gravel.  So all in all its an achiever with small goals - but if your after cheap then go for it!

Screw that I want a pink car

Filed under: Racing Life, Auction Marketing, PR, Adventure @ 11:12 am

My mum has been bullying me - saying “you dont want a pink car - pink cars are for crazy girls with no sense of style” - I slapped her for that but still, I really really want an awesome little pink car, something decent - something better than you see in local pink car for sale lots. But i suppose its all a matter of time, and rather than going for a standard car that comes in some wimpy champagne pink I would rather wait and get a really decent used car like a modified toyota supra or similar - that would be awesome - especially in some violent pink colour.

UK Car Scene

When I was a kid I was well into my cars, I loved cruising around in my small engined lexus and Generally messing about cars. I spent years learning mechanics and how to fix up used cars, I would spend Saturday trawling through the used cars for sale pages of the paper and buying small cars, doing them up and selling them on. This works pretty damn well, I have probably done this process over 50 times, starting with cars in west wales then upscaling to doing cars within 100 miles - It was a busy few years but I made a good killing from the used car fixing process. Its calming too doing mechanics, just pissing about with oil spanners and parts. Fixing new break pads, doing the basics. Its been tempting recently to rejuvenate an old classic…but maybe thats a bit of a big process.
